my job:
being your best friend forever

My friends say I am a total flirt. I have a clownish personality and love going for long walks. I am an active girl and my match should probably be active as well. If you like running, that's even better! Exercising helps me relax and clear my mind.

I really enjoy cuddling and being by your side. I'm not a jealous girl, I just like spending time with the people I love. As for getting along with other dogs I do pretty well. It works out best if they are my size or bigger. When it comes to being around little young humans, I like them to be older...say around 12 or so. I just learned how to play fetch and tug...I must say, it is pretty fun!

At the moment I am inbetween homes. My last relationship did not end well. I was taken to an animal shelter and surrended. Me! Bunny! How could you give me up? I'm beautiful, smart, fun and will give you my heart forever!

So to be totally honest, I do come with a little baggage. Truth be told I was taken to the shelter because I was growling a lot and they didn't know why. Instead of taking a little time to try and help me, they just gave up on me. I had a guardian angel who called Operation Kindness and I was tranferred. While at the shelter I started to do my growl. I wasn't growling at anything or anybody...I would just stare into space and growl. I would be very confused and didn't know what was happening.

Operation Kindness asked my now foster daddy, JP, if he would help me figure out why I was doing my growly thing. He's a "dog trainer"...whatever that means. With the help of a super great veterinarian, Dr. Amanda Florsheim, they were able to figure out why I was growling. At first they thought it was CCD (canine compulsive disorder) but it is most likely Complex Focal Seizures. It means that I have little tiny seizures and I do my growly thing. So my forster daddy did some reward based behavior modification with me. We worked really hard together! He also has 3 dogs that helped me as well. I love them.

Today I am so much better. I don't do my growly thing as much and if I do, it is very small and I am able to keep it together. I do take medication on a daily basis (phenobartbital) but it doesn't cost that much. My foster daddy puts it in my breakfast and dinner and I gobble it right up!

If you are that special person that is right for me and you like what you see, email my foster daddy at jp@therepublicofdog.com. So, I'm really not that high maintenance. I just need someone to love and who will invest the time to take care of me. It will take a little effort, but what relationship doesn't need a little effort!
