Bunny is a bull terrier that came to Operation Kindness because of her Canine Compulsive Disorder. Before coming to Operation Kindness she was about to be euthanized. Her compulsion is growling at "nothing" and spinning. Her growling becomes very intense if left uninterrupted.
After a few months at the shelter and Operation Kindness, The Republic of Dog was asked if we could foster her and put her through a behavior modification program. This is usually not a service we have the resources to accommodate but after meeting Bunny we simply could not say no.
We consulted with a veterinary behaviorist about medication and Bunny was started on Phenobarbital. Phenobarbital is used to help control seizures. Our vet thought that Complex Focal Seizures (partial seizures) could be the underlying problem.
Bunny went through a month of training and started her medication on April 3rd. Since started her medication and training, Bunny has only had two small "Growling" episodes! So, she is on the path to recovery and should be available for adoption very soon!
She truly is one of the sweetest dogs and loves to be by your side. She has a fun personality and loves to play.
